2011, a poem (part 1 of 10)

This is the first installment in a series of ten poems summarizing the previous decade.

2011

Let me take you
back to a time
when flip phones
weren’t passe,
when Obama
was still considered
a “progressive”,
when Party Rock
anthems and electric
daisies bukake
to Lisa Ann on Twitter
instead of begging
for big mommy milkers
on TikTok.
Back to a time
when “we got ’em!”
and despite what the
sketch comedy show’s said,
he wasn’t in a cave.
It was when the 99%
found their slogan
and an Arab Spring
let freedom ring,
at least on paper,
before that paper
was covered with Ghadaffi’s
brains.
Let us go back.
Someone, please,
take me back.
