2011, a poem (part 1 of 10)

This is the first installment in a series of ten poems summarizing the previous decade.

Let me take you
back to a time
when flip phones
weren’t passe,
when Obama
was still considered
a “progressive”,
when Party Rock
anthems and electric
daisies bukake
to Lisa Ann on Twitter
instead of begging
for big mommy milkers
on TikTok.
Back to a time
when “we got ’em!”
and despite what the
sketch comedy show’s said,
he wasn’t in a cave.
It was when the 99%
found their slogan
and an Arab Spring
let freedom ring,
at least on paper,
before that paper
was covered with Ghadaffi’s
Let us go back.
Someone, please,
take me back.
