My freshman year of high school I was proud to participate in our Amnesty International club especially because it was the only thing close to activism and organizing that I had access to at my school. But this is the final straw, Amnesty international has shown time and time again that they are selective about whose rights they actually care about and now they are flat out supporting a U.S. coup and perpetuating a white supremacist, neoliberal group of people. The Venezuelan “opposition” is right wing, nationalist, and a reactionary movement of the privileged Venezuelans who disapprove of Bolivarian social programs and have publicly declared support for Donald Trump. I officially withdraw all support from Amnesty International and I encourage you all to do the same. #handsoffvenezuela

So, here is everything I did this last weekend; road trip to LA, a DSA conference with 200 other members from CA and HI, visited my cousins and got to see some of the Jackson cousins and Kidlets, sang socialist anthems, debate things like Bernie 2020 and ecosocialism and survive a snowy ride through the grapevine. #socialismwillwin #dsa

Raise your hand if you don’t give a fuck about Nancy Pelosi’s “shade clap” or whatever you call it because you know that her policies have been shitty bourgeois nonsense which have disproportionally effected already oppressed communities. Finished Sinclair Lewis’ It can’t happen here, my analysis: A good read, however I feel Main Street is Lewis’ strongest piece because its commentary is more subtle and a more accurate take on the gossip culture of American conservativeism. This piece, while a good allegory for how fascism would manifest in an American context, is not as radical as its title and plot summary suggest. The book puts faith in a form of Liberalism to overthrow fascism that would never manifest because it manifests on a militant front, something that would never happen since militancy is not a pillar of American liberalism. Also, while it is well written it’s portrayal of communists is unfair, unlike Main Street where the communist characters are more humanized than any other popular American text. So in short, a good read but not an accurate analysis or portrayal of Leftism. 3.5 out of 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #sinclairlewis #itcanthappenhere #communism #leftism #dumptrump #nofascistusa
